LONG BEACH (GG) — Lisa Parker, CPO, of Long Beach Precision Vision, is a finalist for the 2024 Beverly Roberts Paraoptometric of the Year. The award is presented annually by the Mississippi Optometric Association (MOA) to recognize significant contributions to the profession of optometry and the public. The finalists and winners are announced at the MOA’s annual fall conference.
Paraoptometrics are health care professionals who assist optometrists in providing the highest level of vision care to their patients. They serve as opticians, optical technicians, insurance clerks, clerical staff, personal assistants, and receptionists.
Parker began her journey as a paraoptometric in 2011. For the past five years, she has been the Practice Manager at Long Beach Precision Vision. She has a deep-rooted passion to help people, which is the driving force to achieve excellence in the paraoptometric field. She has been trained to see all sides of a situation, knowing that no single approach is the right one for each individual or situation.
At Precision Vision she oversees a staff of 12 professionals and coordinates cross training, team training and education. She oversees the practice’s public and media relations as well as spearheading all community service functions.
In addition to her responsibilities as practice manager, Parker is a wife, mother, grandmother, and soccer coach.
The Mississippi Optometric Association, incorporated in 1947, represents more than 1,000 doctors of optometry, optometry students and paraoptometric assistants and technicians in 72 counties across the state. Optometrists examine, diagnose, treat and manage diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye and associated structures as well as diagnose related systemic conditions.
