On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and the Long Beach Police Department announced the arrest of Antiwon Goldman for one felony count of motor vehicle theft and one felony count of vehicle burglary, as well as the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile for Receiving Stolen Property and Felony Evasion.
According to Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley, on Monday, July 29, 2024, county deputies stopped a vehicle near 29th Street in Gulfport which was reported stolen through the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver jumped out of the vehicle and fled.
Investigators later identified the driver as Goldman. The 17 year old passenger moved to the driver seat and drove the vehicle a short distance before also fleeing on foot from the vehicle. The juvenile was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and the county investigators later arrested Goldman during a search warrant at his residence.
The arrest was the result of a joint investigation between the Long Beach Police Department, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, and Gulfport Police Department. Goldman along with several other juvenile suspects from Gulfport stole three vehicles and committed numerous vehicle burglaries stealing multiple firearms in the process.
Harrison County along with Gulfport Police and Long Beach Police Investigators determined that Goldman, the 17 year old Juvenile, and several other juveniles were responsible for numerous burglaries and vehicle thefts that occurred over the weekend in Harrison County. Investigators along with Gulfport Police Investigators and Long Beach Police Investigators were able to recover eight stolen vehicles and several firearms. Sheriff Haley stated more arrests and charges are expected to come as the investigation is still on going.
Antiwon Goldman was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility in Gulfport, Mississippi and charged with one (1) felony count of Motor Vehicle Theft and (1) felony count of Vehicle Burglary for the county. Additionally, the Long Beach Police had three charges against Goldman. Two for felony of taking a motor vehicle and one for burglary in the vehicle.
The suspect is being held in lieu of a $20,000.00 dollar bond set on the county charges by Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner and a $45,000 set for the Long Beach charges issued by Justice Court Judge Theressia Lyons.
The 17 year old juvenile was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Felony Evasion and transported to Harrison County Juvenile Detention Center. All vehicles have been recovered along with multiple firearms.
