BILOXI (GG) — The Biloxi Lighthouse Artisan Festival took place Saturday, May 9 with some vendors moving indoors to the Biloxi Visitor’s Center Ballroom due to severe weather.  Nearly 60 artists and craftsmen showcased a variety of handmade works, from jewelry to pottery, books to paintings, and even several food trucks, during the Ninth Annual Biloxi Lighthouse Artisan Festival.

The event, hosted by the Biloxi Visitors Center, featured a variety of local artisans selling unique items, making it an ideal place to find a one-of-a-kind Mother’s Day gifts.  Some vendors, like Sapphire’s Paradise and Solid Rock Jewelry MS, were excited to show their products.  Unfortunately, some vendors and attendees were affected by the weather forecast, with a few deciding not to attend due to safety concerns.

“This event celebrates the hands of our local artists reflected in creative works,” said Visitors Center Manager Onnie Gazzo. “We love having this special day to feature artists inspired by the beauty of our local community.”

Visitors were able to climb the spiral stairs of the historic Biloxi Lighthouse during one of the free tours offered on the hour between 9 – 11 a.m., despite the weather. Visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the Biloxi History museum on the first floor, see the exhibits, and watch films on Biloxi history and Hurricane Katrina in the theater on the second floor.
