HARRISON COUNTY (GG) — Juneteenth in the Pass committee is organizing an event in observance of Juneteenth.  The Emancipation Proclamation ended slavery in the Confederacy, but it wasn’t applied nationally until two (2) years later on June 19, 1865.  Today, this Holiday is the most popular annual celebration of emancipation from slavery in the United States.

The festivities include a special “If Not You, Then Who” Celebration Brunch to honor local change-makers, followed by a vibrant Day Party featuring live music, food, fellowship, and community spirit. The mission of this event is to enlighten, uplift, and unite the community while honoring the history and cultural significance of Juneteenth.

As part of the commitment to the future, the committee awards scholarships to deserving students of Pass Christian High School, investing in the next generation of leaders.

This year’s celebration takes place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the West Harrison County Civic Center on Espy Avenue in Harrison County. The day begins with a Celebration Brunch at 10:00am, where outstanding community members will be honored. Tickets for the brunch are $35 and include a delicious meal and inspirational program.

The celebration continues with a lively Day Party featuring New Direction and the Gulf Coast Missionary Baptist Association Choir, bringing music, fellowship, and fun to cap off this powerful community event.  Juneteenth in the Pass is a program under Pass Christian Main Street.  For more information, please call Kimberly at 228-313-8033 or email juneteenthpc@gmail.com. https://passmainstreet.com/juneteenth/
