GULFPORT (GG) — On Tuesday, June 17, Darius  Jamar Young was revoked on post-release supervision from a 2019 Felony in Possession of a Weapon conviction in Gulfport after he made death threats to Mississippi Department of  Corrections Officers. Young was sentenced by Circuit Judge Larry Bourgeois to the maximum sentence of 10 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

During a revocation hearing, Judge Bourgeois heard testimony from witnesses and found Young in violation of his post-release supervision. Officers testified that Young made statements to them that he would kill them when he was released from custody after being previously revoked for a technical violation.

The court found that Young committed a new violation while on post-release supervision, and revoked Young’s 10 year suspended sentence.

“During the hearing, Young admitted that he made the death threats to the officer and apologized for his conduct,” said Assistant District Attorney Chris Daniel, who represented the State at the hearing along with Jesse Vicker. “Additional charges are being considered due to Young’s threats, and this evidence is being referred for consideration in the appropriate jurisdiction.” said Daniel.
