PASS CHRISTIAN (GG) — The Trinity Episcopal Church St. Monica Guild got the par-tea started on Friday, March 14th, at Glenn Mueller’s home on Pass Christian’s Scenic Drive for their 95th annual Silver Tea. One felt like royal-tea, being escorted by chauffeurs up the stairs to the event, where one was greeted with smiling faces as they signed the guest book. Donations were graciously taken at the door as one exited.

Member Diann Hightower explained: “All of the money received today will be given to various charities in the community.”

With over 100 attendees, all were welcome; ladies from all over the coast were invited, even men. One of the few male attendees, Fabian Wambsgans, said, “I enjoy it. I love looking at the house and seeing everyone in a good mood. You don’t often get to see inside these nice homes.”

Built in 1850 and renovated by the eleventh owner, Glenn Mueller, it is one of the first homes built on E Scenic Dr. and the first to have electricity, earning it the nickname “The Light House.” 709 Scenic Drive, or the “Light House,” certainly is a brew-tea-ful home that is historically rich with a modern flare, like the tea party, which celebrates tradition and enriches the future.

As member Sandra Shellnut put it, “People like to say that this is old-fashioned, but people still show up and love it!”

The party had gluten-free treat options, showcasing their inclusivity and modernness. One attendee was overheard saying, “I went to these teas with my mother.” When asked, President Ann Burger said, “My favorite part is seeing everyone; it’s a rewarding feeling when we see people enjoying themselves, and we always appreciate the donations.”

Everyone was having a blast. Conversations, laughter, and chamomile filled the air, along with the praise of an attending lady, “always good food and good fun, and we all dress up! Haha!” This tea-riffic event has lasted 95 years, and we hope to see it for 95 more!
