PASS CHRISTIAN (GG) — After earning a 1-0 walkoff win Friday night against the Lawrence County Lady Cougars, the Pass Christian Lady Pirates advanced to the MHSAA 4A State Quarterfinals with a 6-2 victory Saturday in Monticello.

The Lady Pirates (19-9) jumped on the board early in the first inning with a Mia Lacy single that knocked in a run. Before this, the Lady Pirates scored on a passed ball and after two innings, Pass Christian had a 3-0 lead after a sacrifice fly.

Despite allowing two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, pitcher Trista Necaise entered the game. Necaise tossed a 10-inning, shutout with 20 strikeouts Friday night and came into collect the final two innings Saturday for a save.

The Lady Pirates piled up ten hits and multiple RBIs led by Braylee Cobern with 2.

“This was a complete team win,” said Pass Christian Softball Head Coach D.J. Elkins. “The girls showed up and competed from the first pitch and never gave into any adversity. Proud of the competitiveness.”

Bristol Jones earned the win for the Lady Pirates. Jones gave up one hit and two runs over 4 2/3 innings, striking out seven and walking four.

Kayden Scheid led the Lady Pirates at the plate with two hits while three others reached base twice.

The Pass Christian Lady Pirates will play Purvis High School Thursday, May 1 away before hosting the Lady Tornadoes at the Philip Terrell Complex Friday for the MHSAA 4A State Quarterfinals.
