LONG BEACH (GG) — “Pour out to the God of hope and be filled” – Romans 15:13.
Thursday, May 1st, marked the 74th National Day of Prayer in the United States. President of the United States (POTUS) Donald J. Trump emphasized the importance of faith throughout our country’s history and his own. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting religious liberty and called on Americans to unite in prayer and reflection. As the POTUS signed the annual proclamation, communities across the Mississippi Gulf Coast held their own celebrations.
Romans 15:13 was the theme for the 2025 National Day of Prayer.
Long Beach opened the doors of City Hall for all to gather for the solemn occasion. Meanwhile, the sister city, Gulfport, celebrated at Jones Park. The Friendly Citizens of the Friendly City poured into Long Beach City Hall to pray for the community as one, discarding differences, coming together in prayer and exclaiming hope for the future, because we are in God’s hands.
At the city’s annual event, the grand Long Beach High School Choir performed, singing operatic hymns and the national anthem. Pastors from all over the city came together, each praying for a specific part of our community, from our Government, Education, Businesses, and even the Media.
This undoubtedly represented a well-oiled machine anointed by God and it was a beautiful thing to witness those in power, such as Government officials, humbly hand over their power to a faithful cause, for without this, nothing would be possible. As Long Beach Mayor George Bass preaches, “God has his plan for all of us and we must trust in him.”
