BROOKLYN (GG) — Pass High remained unbeaten Thursday night, October 8, cruising past Forrest County Agricultural 42-7 in a road win to improve to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in district play. The game was moved from Friday to Thursday for the second time in two weeks due to the threat of inclement weather. Pirates Coach Jeff Stockstill said he’s happy with the way his team adjusted with back-to-back short weeks.
“The weather has thrown us off schedule the past couple weeks but we our players and good football teams find a way around it,” Stockstill said. “So, I’m happy with the daily adjustments in the guys have been able to make and still play well.”
The Pirates took control almost immediately, scoring 20 points in the first quarter and adding 15 more in the second to build a commanding 35-0 halftime lead. Pass Christian added another touchdown in the third before Forrest County Agricultural avoided the shutout with a fourth-quarter score.
Senior quarterback Paris Trivillion led the way for Pass High, completing 14 of 24 passes for 291 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. He also rushed nine times for 98 yards and another score.
Brandon Laneaux was the Pirates’ top receiver, catching seven passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Mario Burks added three receptions for 110 yards and two touchdowns, including a 64-yard catch. Burks also scored on a two-point conversion.
Pass Christian finished with 481 yards of total offense, including 190 on the ground. Cecil Lizana rushed four times for 37 yards and a touchdown, while Douglas White added 46 yards on eight carries.
The victory continued an impressive stretch for the Pirates, who opened district play the previous week with a 38-14 win over Greene County.
“This time of year is more of a challenge to the team to maintain a high level of play versus an improvement,” said Stockstill. “The team has responded towhat’s been thrown at them week to week. No, the challenge is to maintain their level of play.”
Pass High has now scored at least 38 points in six straight games and has won five of seven by 24 points or more. The Pirates continue district play Friday with a road trip to Moss Point. Pass Christian could clinch their second consecutive Region 8-A Championship with a victory over the Tigers.
