GULFPORT (GG) — On Tuesday, September 29, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) seized 22 pounds of cocaine and the arrest of suspects Chloe Rankin and Jason Acevedo for federal trafficking charges during a traffic stop on Interstate 10 in Gulfport.

At approximately 1:30pm, a Harrison County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy from the Criminal Interdiction Division conducted a traffic stop on a grey Kia Sportage for a traffic violation at the 33-mile marker of Interstate 10 eastbound in Gulfport.

During the  stop, Deputies contacted the driver, who identified herself as Chloe Rankin, and the passenger as Jason Acevedo, from Clearwater, Florida. Rankin and Acevedo were driving from Houston, Texas, traveling back to Clearwater, Florida.

A U.S. Border Patrol K9 unit responded and alerted the vehicle. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, HCSO deputies located 22 pounds of cocaine and over $10,000 in illicit currency concealed within a duffel bag.

The DEA responded and took over the Investigation. Rankin and Acevedo were booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center in Gulfport where both were charged with federal trafficking.
