NOTICE OF A TAX INCREASE AND A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED BUDGET AND PROPOSED TAX LEVIES FOR THE UPCOMING FISCAL YEAR 2026-2027 FOR CITY OF BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI

The City of Biloxi will hold a public hearing on a proposed ad valorem tax revenue increase for fiscal year 2026-2027 and on its proposed budget and proposed tax levies for fiscal year 2026-2027 on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall located at 140 Lameuse Street, Biloxi, Mississippi.

The City of Biloxi is now operating with projected total budget revenue of $244,794,057. 21.8 percent or $53,367,061 of such revenue is obtained through ad valorem taxes. For next fiscal year, the proposed budget has total projected revenue of $233,822,413. Of that amount, 23.5 percent or $54,857,335 is proposed to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy.

For next fiscal year, the City of Biloxi plans to increase your ad valorem tax millage rate by one (1) mill from 30.10 mills to 31.10 mills. The proposed increase is necessary to enable the City to provide services at a satisfactory level. The current millage will not allow the City to do so. This increase means that you will pay more in ad valorem taxes on your home, automobile tag, utilities, business fixtures and equipment and rental real property.

Any citizen of Biloxi is invited to attend this public hearing on the proposed ad valorem tax increase, and will be allowed to speak for a reasonable amount of time and offer tangible evidence before any vote is taken.
