BILOXI (GG) — Master magician Lance Burton will bring his signature illusions and sleight of hand to the Beau Rivage Theatre on Friday, Aug. 21, at 8 p.m.
Tickets for “Lance Burton Master Magician & Friends” start at $35, Tickets are available at the Beau Rivage Box Office, by calling 888-566-7469 or at Ticketmaster.com Widely regarded by fellow magicians as one of the premier stage performers of his generation, Burton built his reputation during a celebrated Las Vegas career that spanned decades.
After his Vegas residency ended, Burton moved to his native Kentucky, where he greatly reduced his appearance schedule.
“I love playing in Biloxi at the Beau Rivage,” Burton said in a phone interview. “It’s a great theater and I’m excited to be coming back.”
Burton’s career as a magician skyrocketed after an 1981 appearance on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.”
“What an incredible experience,” he said. “I was only 21 and had been awarded the Gold Medal of Excellence from the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Dick Cavett was the guest that night. And after my performance, which went longer than the standard spot, Johnny Carson and Dick Cavett talked about being magicians when they were younger and praised my appearance.”
After the appearance on “The Tonight Show,” Burton went on to make several more appearances with both Johnny Carson and Jay Leno, as well as many other late night shows. Burton’s Beau Rivage performance will feature a mix of classic magic, large-scale illusions, sleight of hand, comedy and audience participation. Burton will also be joined by guest performers throughout the show.
“I love when after the show, kids come up to me and tell me they are interested in magic” Burton said. “I love meeting my fans after the show.”
