NEW ORLEANS (GG) —According to a report by Sports Illustrated (SI) Monday, March 9, Mississippi native and 14-year veteran Pro Bowl Linebacker Demario Davis will leave the New Orleans Saints and return to the New York Jets.  In 2012, the New York Jets drafted Davis and will return as a free agent signing with the Jets on a two-year, $22 million deal that includes $15M fully guaranteed as issued by Tom Pelissero from SI.

Davis spent the first four seasons of his career in New York and returned for the 2017 season as well. Now, the two-time Pro Bowler returns to fill a position of need at linebacker.

On March 11, 2024, the Saints agreed to terms of Davis’ contract, extending him through to 2025.  Davis missed the first game of his career due to injury in week 4 of 2024, with a hamstring malady causing him to be absent.

With a career 1536 tackles, 45 sacks, 4 interceptions, and 9 fumble recoveries, virtually every statistical high came as a member of the black and gold in New Orleans.
