LONG BEACH (GG) — Landon Carden shut down Stone, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Long Beach Bearcats to their first victory 6-0 Saturday, February 28, 2026. Carden tossed all seven innings, striking out 4 in only 92 pitches.
A fielder’s choice ground out by Long Beach Left Fielder Colby Decell put the Bearcats on the board in the bottom of the second.
The Long Beach Bearcats (1-7) added one run in the third when Carden singled to left field, driving in shortstop Dax Arkin making the score 2-0. The Bearcats added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings each with an error, a single by Abel Wilson, a walk, and a balk by the Tomcats.
Stone County’ s pitcher allowed five hits and four runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking two.
Carden provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Long Beach Bearcats with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day, including a triple.
Carden and Abel Wilson each collected two hits for Long Beach Bearcats. The Long Beach Bearcats turned two double plays in the game. Two players collected two hits for Stone.
The Long Beach Bearcats will travel on the road to play Bay High Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 6pm.
