D’IBERVILLE (GG) — Recently, D’Iberville was awarded $1.14 million in transportation funding from the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) to start building a new sidewalk corridor along D’Iberville Boulevard.
According to officials, the project creates a sidewalk connecting Lamey Bridge Road to Auto Mall Parkway, including a safe pedestrian crossing at I-110. This corridor will bring neighborhoods together with commercial destinations that provide safer pedestrian access to jobs, shopping, dining and services.
Back in 2020, the sidewalk project was identified as a priority in the city of D’Iberville Sidewalk and Pedestrian Study. The improvements will include ADA-compliant curb ramps, detectable warning panels, pedestrian safety features and necessary utility adjustments. The sidewalk will be constructed in phases to ensure the path is safe and functional as each segment is completed.
Project development will begin in coordination with MDOT. Construction will begin after the design and bidding phases are complete.
