PASS CHRISTIAN (GG) — Following an addendum issued at the recent Board of Alderman meeting Tuesday, December 16, a resolution was unanimously approved to remove all derelict and abandoned vessels in the Pass Christian Harbor immediately.  The city attorney, Jim Simpson, expressed to the board that they had an emergency removal authority to avoid hazards under the state law.

Before the vote, Pass Christian Harbor Master James Butcher expressed the concerns of a few abandoned vessels and several attempts to reach the owners were not successful.  Simpson conveyed to the board and the mayor of their legal right to act on these derelict vessels if there was a potential public safety of hazards as long as an order was adopted.

Additionally, a request was approved to issue a refund check of $640.58 to Kevin Dang.  Dang paid for his board slip 6 months in advance and sold his boat on November 25 with no need for the location in the harbor.

Beginning the meeting, the Board of Aldermen asked Simpson to file a response of taking no position from the summons received for defining the corporate limits of the city of Long Beach, the city of Gulfport, the city of Pass Christian and Harrison County.
