LONG BEACH (GG) — The Long Beach Rotary Club served up a good time during their recent Spaghetti Trivia Night on Thursday, November 6th. The event brought together laughter, good food, and friendly competition.
Hosted by Rotary Club trivia chairperson (and secret chef) Carrie Cruz, the night featured a spaghetti dinner followed by trivia rounds led by Dustin Clark, the evening’s “quiz master.” Questions covered everything from Long Beach fun facts to movies, sports, and music, testing participants on everything from the town’s famous vegetable to the meaning behind “PRIDE.” Only ten questions stood between players and the ultimate title of “True Long Beachian.”
The fun wasn’t just for adults; kids enjoyed their own games, there was pasta-tively something for everyone, making it a truly family-friendly evening. Rotary Club President Rachelle Clark shared that the event was about more than just trivia:
“Not only are we trying to raise funds to support our service efforts in the community of Long Beach, but we really strive to bring family-friendly community events. We see a lot on Facebook about how people wish there were more things for kids to do around here, and so if we can just provide that space for families and kids — and donate money to a good cause — we thought it would be a good idea.”
While attendees filled their plates, the Rotary Club filled their donation bins, collecting for their Thanksgiving Food Drive, which fed 67 families last year! This year, they hope to beat that record, with your help. If you missed the trivia fun, don’t worry, the Rotary Club has more events on the way, including a Bingo Night this spring.
The Rotary Club meets every second and fourth Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Bull’s, and they are always welcoming new volunteers.
