NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED BUDGET AND PROPOSED TAX LEVIES FOR THE UPCOMING FISCAL YEAR FOR CITY OF BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI
The City of Biloxi will hold a public hearing on its proposed budget and proposed tax levies for fiscal year ending 2026 on September 2, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall located at 140 Lameuse Street, Biloxi, Mississippi.
The City of Biloxi is now operating with a projected total budget revenue of $250,925,950. Of that amount, twenty (20%) percent or $50,448,114 of such revenue is obtained through ad valorem taxes. For the next fiscal year, the proposed budget has total projected revenue of $243,550,123. Of that amount, twenty-two (22%) percent or $53,367,061, is proposed to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy.
The decision by the City to not increase the City’s portion of ad valorem tax millage rate for fiscal year 2026 above the current fiscal year’s ad valorem tax millage rate means you will not pay more in City ad valorem taxes on your home, automobile tag, utilities, business fixtures and equipment and rental real property, unless the assessed value of your property has increased for fiscal year 2026. You may also pay more if the Biloxi Public School District increases its ad valorem millage request. Currently the Biloxi Public School District has submitted an increased millage request of 1 mill.
Harrison County conducted a county-wide reappraisal in 2025. A millage rate of 28.88 will produce the same amount of revenue from ad valorem taxes for the City of Biloxi as was collected the prior year. The millage rate for the prior fiscal year was 30.10.
Any citizen of Biloxi is invited to attend this public hearing on the proposed budget and tax levies for fiscal year 2026 and will be allowed to speak for a reasonable amount of time and offer tangible evidence before any vote is taken.
