LONG BEACH (GG) — The City of Long Beach is pleased to announce the next phase of its ongoing Railroad Crossing Improvement Project Thursday, July 24, 2025.
• July 28: Crews will resume work to complete final touches at each crossing, including installation of grass restoration and other minor finishing tasks. This phase does not include road closures.
• AT&T Utility Relocation Complete: Last week, AT&T crews finished removing their lines from the right-of-way along Cleveland Avenue and Railroad Street, fully clearing the corridor for construction.
• August 4 Closure: Beginning Monday, August 4, the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Railroad Street will be fully closed to vehicular traffic. This full closure will allow contractors to repave the roadway and install new drainage structures. Motorists should follow posted detour routes; signage will be in place to guide local traffic.
“We appreciate our community’s continued patience as we work to modernize these critical crossings,” said Long Beach Mayor Tim Pierce, serving his first term for The Friendly City. “These improvements will enhance safety, reduce long-term maintenance, and support smoother travel for residents and visitors alike.”
