MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST (GG) — On Monday, July 21, 2025, Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley is making the public aware of ongoing scams using the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office’s phone number and information while claiming to be a Deputy collecting fines to avoid arrest.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple complaints this week in reference to citizens being contacted via phone about missing jury duty and having a warrant for their arrest. The caller is requesting money through bitcoin or other electronic platforms to be sent to avoid arrest.
Some citizens were sent a falsified arrest warrant with their names attached that appears to be signed by a representative of the Sheriff’s Office. Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley wants to remind the public the Sheriff’s Office will never request money over the phone or email.
If anybody receives these calls and is uncertain if it is valid or not, please feel free to come in person to 10451 Larkin Smith Road or contact us at 228-897-1364 to verify.
