GULFPORT (GG) — Elizabeth Farms, off Highway 53, hosted its 1st Annual Crawfish Cook-off on Saturday, May 10th in Gulfport with parking provided. All You Can Eat Crawfish and fixings was included with the $20 admission for adults, $10 for ages 6-12, ages 5 and under FREE.

The weather cooperated and gates were open 12:00pm – 5:00pm. Community members came out in full support of the event, with all proceeds going to the Valdez Cook-off Team Necaise. 

Live music performance by Mike Anderson & Peggy Anderson set a festive tone, as footballs flew and laugher and conversation filled the afternoon air. First time visitors enjoyed the Elizabeth Farms experience, children loved seeing the goats and exploring the grounds with snow cones in hand.

Jason Necaise explained the significance of the benefit saying, “We’re raising money for local, college bound students that are graduating high school.”

Special thanks to all the generous sponsors, the teams, and most of all the volunteers for making this event happen, none of this would have been possible without you all. Coastal Prints provided shirts for all staff and volunteers. Burger Shack served burgers, hotdogs, and cold drinks at great prices.

Winners for Judge’s Choice: 3rd Place, Crawl U Crazy; 2nd Place, Bud Bug Mafia; 1st Eric Necaise. Winner for People’s Choice: Team Trosclair.

Raffle items included a 24×24 GatorPot, net, paddle, 10” hose, and 0-30 regulator valued at $1,375.00, $100 worth of Scratch-offs, and other items. 

Congratulations to all the winners, Elizabeth Farms looks forward to seeing everyone back again next year!
