PASCAGOULA (GG) — The West Harrison Hurricanes and the Long Beach Bearcats traveled to Pascagoula for the Region 4-6A track and field championships on Friday of last week. The top four finishers in each event qualified for the Super-Regional meet this week.
The West Harrison Lady Hurricanes placed third in the girls’ division with 105 points while Long Beach scored 54 points.
The Lady Hurricanes were paced by Sydnei Barber who won the discus with a throw of 122′ 9 ” and McKinley Humbles who won the shot put with a distance of 36′ 9 3/4.”
Other top qualifiers include Brianna Harris (Discus – 3 – 104′ 10″; Shot Put – 2 – 33′ 1 1/2″), Jewelz Galloway (Pole Vault – 2 – 7′), Desiree Lacy (Pole Vault – 3 – 7′), Diana Carr (3200m – 2 – 13:36.35; 1600m – 4 – 6:17.40; 800m – 4 – 2:48.53), McKenna Holland (400m – 3 – 1:05.44), Cristian Newton (High Jump – 4 – 4′ 10″), Kaziah Pritchard (Shot Put – 4 – 30′ 3 3/4″), Kiera Young (200m – 3 – 28.12), the 4x200m relay (2 – 1:52.99), the 4x100m relay (4 – 53.86), and the 4x400m relay (4 – 5:02.01).
The Lady Bearcats were led by qualifiers Gabby Clark (100m Hurdles – 3 – 19.27), Shayla Nguyen (100m – 4 – 13.13; Triple Jump – 2 – 32′), the 4x200m relay (4 – 1:54.17), the 4x100m relay (2 – 53.44), Aniyah Taylor (200m – 4 – 28.73), and Tori Washington (Discus – 2 – 105′; Shot Put – 3 – 33′ 1/2″).
The Bearcats scored 80 points on the boys’ side while the Hurricanes scored 79.
Long Beach was led by qualifiers Isaac Jeansonne (3200m – 4 – 11:09.07), the 4x100m relay (2 – 44.41), Evan Baronne (200m – 3 – 22.72; 100m – 3 – 11.10), Maximus Cropper (300m Hurdles – 4 – 48.25; Pole Vault – 2 – 11′), Andre Windham (High Jump – 2 – 6′ 2″; Triple Jump – 2 – 43′ 4 1/2″), Cordarious Fairley (Long Jump – 4 – 19′ 10″), and the 4x800m relay (3 – 9:07.26).
The Hurricanes were led by event winners Sean Fairley (Discus – 189′ 2″), Joshua Anderson (800m – 2:10.86), and Joshua Lane (Shot Put – 45′ 3 1/4″).
Other top qualifiers include Lane (Discus – 2 – 149′ 1/4″), Samuel Harris (Discus – 4 – 108′; Shot Put – 2 – 41′ 6″), the 4x200m relay (4 – 1:37.64), the 4x100m relay (4 – 48.60), Omar Ballard (Pole Vault – 4 – 10′ 6″), the 4x400m relay (4 – 3:44.03), and the 4x800m relay (2 – 9:04.05).
