LONG BEACH (GG) — The unofficial preliminary results are in! Below are the outcomes for the 2025 City of Long Beach Primary Election.

Mayor:

  • Raymond DeFlaviis: 10
  • LaRus “Wheelchair Larry” Gunnarsson: 31
  • Tim Pierce: 2,453
  • Glen Powell: 559

After three months of campaign, Tim Pierce wins the mayor seat at the city of Long Beach.  When asked how the final results made him feel, Pierce said “It’s a statement of hard work. I had a good core group and we worked very hard. We went across this town knocking on doors. I think the city wants to move forward and that is why they voted for me. It is currently heavy on the bedroom side and we need to bring more business and that’s how they’re going to grade me, on how much and how well I bring in new business.”

“The biggest thing that I have to accomplish is bringing new business into the city. How? First we need to complete the harbor and pier,” expressed Pierce further. “I have to work on the front door of the city, but there is more than one, on the north and south ends, and put us on the map. People should pass us and say that’s Long Beach, that’s a place I want to visit. We are such a good community with a number one school district and we need to push that.”

Pierce will leave his position of 20 years on the Long Beach School Board of Trustees.  Currently, Pierce has been President of the board for 8 years.

Finally, Pierce wanted the people of Long Beach to know, ” I love this town and I want to try to build a community that will bring us all closer and hopefully work at the lowering of taxes and the building of a business community, a business base. I’ve lived here all my life I love this town and I’ve had many opportunities to leave and I stayed because I’m passionate about this community. Every time I’ve entered a job I’ve left it better and that’s what I plan to do with Long Beach.”
