PASS CHRISTIAN (GG) — The Pass Christian Pirates took the first toward their ultimate goal of winning a Class 4A state championship by sweeping the boys and girls team titles at the recent Region 8-4A track and field championships held at Bay High School on Friday, April 11. The top four finishers in each event qualified for the Region 4-4A championships that were held at Pass Christian on Thursday, April 17.
The Pirates tallied 274 points in the meet to win the boys’ team title followed by Moss Point with 184, Bay HIgh 61, Poplarville 13, and Greene County with 12 points.
Event winners for the boys’ team include Noah Campbell (3200m – 10:46.30), Nolan Akers (1600m – 4:50.61), Tristan Jones (400m – 51.60), Erik Lindmark (800m – 2:07.90), Paris Trivillion (Long Jump – 21′ 4 1/2″), Sheldon Stapleton (Triple Jump – 42′ 6″), and the 4x400m relay (3:39.62).
Other top four finishers for the Pirates include Brennan Davis (3200m – 3 – 10:55.11), Jacob Fuller (3200m – 4 – 10:56.66), Hardy Belt (110m Hurdles – 2 – 16.16; 300m Hurdles – 2 – 43.60; High Jump – 3 – 6’2″), Lathan Lewis (110m Hurdles – 4 – 19.24; 300m Hurdles – 4 – 46.46), Ryland Shoulders (100m – 2 – 11.13; 200m – 3 – 23.16), Tristan Jones (100m – 3 – 11.15; 200m – 2 – 22.97), Paris Trivillion (100m – 4 – 11.35; 200m – 4 – 23.81), Ollie Bailey (1600m – 3 – 5:00.53; 800m – 2 – 2:08.13), 4x100m relay (4 – 47.34), Larkin Lewis (400m – 3 – 53.47), Erik Lindmark (400m – 4 – 54.78), Landon Hall (300m Hurdles – 3 – 44.16; High Jump – 2 – 6’2″), Nolan Akers (800m – 3 – 2:11.63; Pole Vault – 3 – 10′), Perry Williams (Long Jump – 3 – 20′ 9″; Triple Jump – 2 – 41′ 1/2″), Sheldon Stapleton (Long Jump – 4 – 20′ 8″), Cenica Barnes (Shot Put – 2 – 40′ 6 1/2″), Samuel King (Shot Put – 3 – 40′ 5 1/2″), Kenneth Dalcour (Discus – 2 – 130′ 1″), Stefan King (Discus – 3 – 129′ 2″), the 4x800m relay (3 – 9:38.70), the 4x200m relay team (2 – 1:39.85), and Grant Akers (Pole Vault – 2- 11′).
The Lady Pirates racked up 210 points to win the girls division.
Event winners from Pass Christian include the 4x400m relay (4:35.12), Khloee Vinsonhaler (High Jump – 1 – 4′ 8″; 300m Hurdles – 1 – 50.50), Harmony Walker (100m – 1 – 12.40), the 4x200m relay team (1 – 1:45.55), the 4x100m relay team (1 – 49.90), Kailey Taylor (400m – 1 – 1:02.35), Anaya Bradley (200m – 1 – 25.88), Maleygh Acker (Long Jump – 1 – 16′ 8″), and Takiya Tyson (Triple Jump – 1 – 35′ 4″).
