BILOXI (GG) — Tuesday night, April 1, 2025, the city Biloxi had only a few minor election changes in the municipal primary.  Incumbent Mayor Andrew “Fofo” Gilich easily cruised to a victory in the Republican primary with 2422 votes over 294 cast for challenger Jordan Gollub.

The mayor will face will face Independent Andy Linville and Libertarian Farren Santibanez in the general election June 3, 2025. Gilich has served nearly 10 years since his special election on May 2015 to fill the vacancy of the mayoral position.

Of the seven wards in Biloxi, only four had contested races.  Due to the retirement of Ward 1 Council Member George Lawrence, Wayne Gray was the candidate who had the most ballots cast for in the Republican primary, finishing with 305 votes. Republican Wayne Gray, Democrat Corey Christy, and Libertarian Stephan Santibanez will appear on the general election.

In Ward 2, Democratic candidate Anthony Marshall easily won with 244 votes cast in the Democratic primary.  Marshall faces incumbent Felix Gines and Independent Sonya C. White will appear on the general election ballot.

A runoff is scheduled for April 22 in Ward 3 after incumbent Dixie Newman finished with a 154 vote lead over the 121 votes cast for Robert “Mike” Nail.  The other two challengers received a combined 130 votes to force a runoff in the Republican primary to officially name the councilmember for this ward.

Finally, Ward 4 Republican incumbent Rodney McGilvary was defeated by former State Representative Jamie Creel 456-575 to make a minor change in the council now.

Ward 5, 6, 7 incumbents Paul Tisdale, Kenny J. Glavan, and David Shoemaker were unopposed during this cycle of the municipal elections.

On Thursday, May 1, 2025, Incumbents must file Statement of Economic Interest with Mississippi Ethics Commission then Tuesday, May 27, 2025, a Campaign Finance form is due for all opposed Municipal General Election candidates seeking election.

While the general election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.  The new term for the council begins Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
