LONG BEACH (GG) — Long Beach High School hosted their annual Olen Welch Invitational track and field meet that honors their long time coach who retired a few years ago.

There were 14 teams that competed in the annual event. Biloxi High School swept the team titles. The Indians won the boys division with 123 points while Long Beach finished sixth with 46.5 points followed by West Harrison in seventh with 42 points, and Saint Stanislaus was ninth with 26 points.
Top three finishers for West Harrison include Sean Fairley who won the discus with a throw of 176′ 9″ followed by teammates Joshua Lane in third with a throw of 150.’ Lane also won the shotput with a throw of 45′ 2 1/2.”
Long Beach was led by Andre Windham who placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 43′ 6 1/4.”
The top finishers for Saint Stanislaus was Micah Bishop who placed fourth in the 100m (11.68), the 200m (23.05), and Brett Tyler who placed fourth in the discus (143′ 5″).
Biloxi won the girls division with 147 points followed by OLA in eighth with 38.5 points, West Harrison in ninth with 38 points, and Long Beach was eleventh with 28 points.
Top three finishers for OLA include the 4x400m relay team that placed third with a time of 4:27.25.
West Harrison was led by Sydnei Barber who won the discus with a throw of 113′ 2″ followed by
teammate Brianna Harris in second with a throw of 93′ 5.” McKinley Humbles took third in the shotput with a throw of 32.’
Tori Washington paced the Long Beach Bearcats winning the shotput with a throw of 37′ 1.”
