GULFPORT (GG) — Walt Pannell, Cadence Bank president – Gulf Coast division, said the company gave a total of $1.1 million in February to 16 qualifying Mississippi nonprofit organizations whose focus areas are food insecurity, transitional housing or pregnancy resources, including $50,000 to Feeding the Gulf Coast and the Women’s Resource Center.
“Cadence Bank is passionate about creating positive change in the communities it serves. By making relationships and investments in local organizations like Feeding the Gulf Coast and the Women’s Resource Center, we’re giving organizations the support they need to remain focused on their missions,” said Pannell. “Meaningful community involvement is just one way Cadence shows it cares.”
“This $50,000 donation will help us provide more than 250,000 meals to individuals and families facing hunger across our south Mississippi service area,” said Cyndy Baggett, vice president of development and marketing. “This investment expands our reach, letting us provide more fresh, nutritious food through our Mobile Pantry program and with community partners.”
According to Susan Kremar Jones, executive director of the Women’s Resource Center in Gulfport, the donation from Cadence Bank will help the nonprofit expand its Empowered Parenting Program.
“In 2024 the Empowered Parenting Program helped more than 1,000 mothers and fathers,” said Jones. There are 11 total classes, which start the first trimester of pregnancy through birth and up to age two. Available in English and Spanish, these classes are designed for new parents to educate them about the critical stages of early childhood development.”
