HARRISON COUNTY (GG) — On Tuesday morning, January 21, 2025 at 7:31am, the Harrison County EMA issued a release that the Bayou Portage Bridge in Pass Christian off Henderson Avenue will be closed until further notice due to the winter snowstorm. The county sent a statement advising that the Winter Storm Warning will last through midnight. Extreme Cold Warning from 6pm Tuesday night to 9 am Wednesday.
With dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills in the forecast from Monday through Thursday, the county advised having in plan a place for the elderly and those who don’t have reliable access to warm shelter. Additionally, plan to bring animals in or prepare a shelter for them to stay warm and make sure there is a way to get fresh unfrozen water. Check, protect pipes, and replace old insulation if needed.
