LONG BEACH (GG) — Timothy I. Pierce, a public service official & champion for community advancement, has built a legacy marked by dedication, innovation, and leadership. After a stellar notable career spanning decades at NASA’s Stennis Space Center and a longstanding commitment to the Long Beach community, Pierce now looks forward to retirement with plans for political aspirations continued public service and quality time with family.
Pierce’s professional journey began after earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1984. Joining NASA in 1998, he made his mark as a Senior System Accountant, working to implement cutting-edge financial systems and streamline critical operations. Over the years, his roles expanded to key leadership positions. As Deputy Chief and then later Chief of the Planning and Development Division, Pierce oversaw strategic initiatives that helped to reshaped SSC’s trajectory, including master planning, tenant agreements, and the development of Enterprise Park.
Beyond NASA, Pierce has been a pillar of the Long Beach community. A school board member since 2005 and current president, he has championed transformative projects, including constructing state-of-the-art facilities, enhancing school security, and technology. These efforts have enriched the educational experience for countless students, ensuring Long Beach schools rank among the top in Mississippi. His commitment to public service earned him induction into the Long Beach School District’s Hall of Fame in 2021.
Pierce’s community leadership extends to his time as a City Alderman from 1993 to 2001, where he helped guide Long Beach through key initiatives, challenges and the development of short- and long-term strategic plans for the City.
As Pierce retires from NASA, he looks ahead with optimism. “Public service has been the cornerstone of my career,” he reflects. “I’m eager to explore opportunities to make a difference in a new capacity.”
