MOBILE (GG) — Saint Stanislaus All-American kicker and Florida signee Evan Noel completed his high school career on Saturday, December 14, playing for the Mississippi team in the annual Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Classic at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the campus of the University of South Alabama in Mobile. The Mississippi All-Stars stumbled against Alabama 35-29 late.
Noel commented, “I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing for the Mississippi squad this past weekend despite the state not getting the win on the field. I have been striving to be selected and play in this game my whole career and I was able to accomplish that. It was everything that I built it up to be. We had some terrific players on both sides of the field. It was definitely different than what I was used to as the game sped up dramatically. It gave me a good impression of what the next level will be like. I felt like I performed well today, overall. Kicking into the wind, I could have placed the ball a little better bit overall it was a good day.”
Noel handled placekicking duties for the Mississippi team and was 2-for-3 on PATs. He missed his first attempt as the hold was mishandled. Late in the third quarter, Noel converted a 30-yard field goal that made the score 22-18 in favor of Mississippi.
Noel also picked up a new position as a long snapper on punts. He stated, “It was really neat trying a position that I had never played before. I have always been a kicker so this was something new. I snapped the ball to the punter and he was my holder on PATs and field goals this week.”
Throughout the week, the Mississippi and Alabama Coaches Association had several activities planned for the teams in the Mobile area.
Noel ended, “It was a terrific experience. I advise any young player to strive to accomplish this feat. I was able to play alongside the best in Mississippi and against the best in Alabama. On the Mississippi squad, Deuce Knight from George County was an unbelievable player.”
Noel joins a littany of former Rocks to play in the prestigious game including TE Stephen Peterman, LB Lee Klein, LB Jordan Ellis, OL JC Brignone, OL Chris Frigo, DT Jordan Bradford, OL Ryan Gipson, QB Myles Brennan, and TE Chase Rogers.
Noel will report to the University of Florida in early June 2025.
