GULFPORT (GG) — On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sherika Yuva Leake of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on a federal charge of Possession of a Controlled  Substance with Intent to Distribute, Cocaine.  

On Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit, working alongside US Border Patrol, conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 East near the 37 Mile-Marker in Gulfport, Mississippi. The driver, identified as Sherika Yuva Leake, was suspected of criminal wrongdoing leading agents to request a canine sniff of the vehicle.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted by the US Border Patrol and Harrison County Sheriff’s Office  Deputies that revealed a large trash bag in the trunk of the vehicle containing (10) kilogram size bundles of cocaine. Leake was learned to have traveled from North Carolina to Texas where she is believed to have obtained the cocaine.  

 Based on the findings, Leake was arrested and charged by the US Drug Enforcement Administration. Leake was transported and booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center in Gulfport, Mississippi.

The suspect is currently being held without bond pending federal judicial proceedings.
