Saturday night, #5 William Carey Men’s Soccer of the NAIA won their second straight Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Tournament Title with a 4-2 penalty kick shootout win over #3 Mobile at the Emory Folmer YMCA Soccer Complex in Montgomery Alabama.
As the Crusaders (13-0-5) went 4-for-4 on PK’s, Senior Midfielder Caleb Counselman from Pass Christian knocked in the decisive goal for William Carey University. The Pass Christian High School Alumnus Counselman has one goal and six assists through 17 games this year.
The defenses for both teams stole the show, as they limited the first half shots on goal to just two shots, sending the contest into the break scoreless.
Next up for the William Carey Crusaders will be the NAIA National Championship Opening Round on November 22 & 23. The championship field will be announced on Monday.
