At 4:35pm on Thursday, October 10, the Pass Christian Police Department and the Pass Fire & Rescue responded to a vehicle collision with a train.  This accident was reported at the railroad crossing on St. Paul Avenue where a Jeep traveling southbound got struck by a westbound train.

The passenger was 35-year old Cory Viator, who was transported to Memorial Hospital in Gulfport by American Medical Response (AMR) where he passed away due to sustained injuries from the collision.

According to the Harrison County Deputy Coroner Brian Switzer, Viator died at the hospital due to sustained trauma from the accident.  Viator was a resident of Pass Christian in the northern portion of Harrison County.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and the county Fire & Rescue provided assistance at the scene.
