The Cuevas Fire & Rescue Department celebrated an open house on Saturday afternoon off Menge Avenue in between Long Beach and Pass Christian across from the 2019 Blue Ribbon School, Pineville Elementary.

Within the Cuevas Fire District, there is one station which covers approximately 24 square miles in Harrison County and serves an estimated population of 3,880. There are two part-time paid firefighters, and 30 volunteer firefighters and this station has three trucks.

While firefighters provided a display of the trucks and equipment, a review of training facilities inside the upper level of the station was on display.

As of late June, the Cuevas Fire and Rescue (station 13), dropped one point from an eight-rating to a seven. The Mississippi State Rating Bureau rates the state’s fire stations on a scale of 1-10 with a one being the ideal rating.  This will effectively drop homeowners insurance rates within this area.
