At their July 30th meeting, the Pass Christian Planning Commission unanimously approved a request for a Kennel at 400 Clarence Avenue. The applicant, Richard Alan Laton Jr., a Bay St Louis resident, wants to turn the old VFW building into a full service pet business.
The kennel will offer 24 pet “suites” designed to board pets overnight, pet grooming, sale of pet products and the possibility of an onsite veterinarian satellite clinic. Laton stated that, “once final approval is given, they will start immediately with making some renovations to the interior of the building while also installing an acoustic fence that reduces noise by 2/3rds”.
In the only other item on the agenda, the Commission voted unanimously to rezone the Kittiwake Patio Homes Subdivision from the current T4+ Mixed Zone Use Zone to T3R Single Family Residential Zone. According to City Planner Danit Simon, this action simply corrects a mistake made in the 2010 Zoning Map.
At the conclusion of the meeting Commissioner Lisea Johnson told the Commission that this would be here last meeting. She stated that she “had moved out of the City” and could no longer serve on the Commission. Several Commissioners thanked her for her service and stated that “she would be missed.”
