A few small items were changed in the Harrison County athletic handbook, as requested by several members of the school board at Monday night’s meeting in the Henry Arledge Administration Building.  With a few suggestions by the board members, Harrison County Athletic Director Averie Bush mentioned that he would resubmit the language in the 2019-20 Athletic Handbook at the next meeting.

Before these suggestions were made, the school Architect Marty Hardy gave a presentation discussing future renovations to North Gulfport Elementary/Middle School.  Then, Hardy acknowledged these changes cannot begin until the construction of West Harrison Middle School is completed in 2021.

Federal Programs Director Melissa Garrison answered questions about the school district’s EL program and the Title III grant that would occur based on the number of students that successfully exited.

Pineville Elementary School in Pass Christian received a $9005.28 grant award from the USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program for the Child Nutrition Department during the 2019-2020 school year that was approved by the Harrison County School Board at the meeting.

In other actions, the school board authorized federal programs to pay dual credit and advance placement fees for West Harrison High School students left off original request.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 19th at 5:30pm in the Henry Arledge Administration Building off Highway 49.
