Sunday afternoon, officials responded to a fatal, two-vehicle head on collision. First responders extricated two of the victims from each vehicle. American Medical Response (AMR) treated four people at the scene and a life-flight transported victims.
According to the Harrison County Coroner’s Office and the Mississippi Highway Patrol, two people suffered fatalities in the accident.
Interstate 10 traffic was blocked off for hours during the rescue efforts and while officials conducted an investigation in both eastbound and westbound lanes.
Officials from Harrison County Fire & Rescue, the Pass Christian Fire Department, CRTC (Airport) Fire, and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Mississippi State Highway Patrol at the accident.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing at this time. The two death identifications will be released once family have been notified.
