In an exhibit titled “Mississippi Potpourri,” The University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Park Campus-Long Beach Library is showcasing the work of local artist Susan Hopkins West. Her art can be viewed on the third floor of the library during normal business hours.
Hopkins uses multiple mediums from oil, acrylic and pen & ink to produce subjects including florals and landscapes with impressionist and abstract portraits. According to USM, Susan’s later work delved into surrealism and mixed media.
Although she hails from Gulfport, Hopkins traveled the world and the U.S. following her military pilot father to his various assignments. This is her first exhibit in over six years. Many works are for sale and others are on loan from collectors.
“Mississippi Potpourri” continues through mid-August.
