Unlike the state record and award set by the massive shark from the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo hosted at Barksdale Pavilion-Jones Park in Gulfport last year, Brent Rutledge from Mobile, Alabama hauled in a large Tiger Shark that weighed in 484.10 pounds and 131 inches by length.

“Caught the shark south of Dauphin Island and the water was beautiful,” said Rutledge.  “We targeted bull-shark because of the boundary, but we only caught around seven of those sharks, none weighing more than 300 pounds.”

Four kids from Long Beach lead their respective categories for the Children’s Rodeo contest, but more results will be delivered later today.
