People all over the Gulf Coast flocked to War Memorial Park in Pass Christian on Sunday during Memorial Day Weekend while listening to some terrific Jazz Music, featuring a beautiful Memorial Day tribute. Backed by a view of the gorgeous Mississippi Sound, Saxophonist Jordan Chalden kicked off the day’s events at noon followed by The David Knorr Quartet, DaReal BAND, and Starz.

Speakers blared and singers belted as folks enjoyed the company of friends, families, and even their dogs.

This free concert in the park included tents, tables, chairs and coolers that crowded the venue. The festival also brought many vendors to the park, providing everything from food, drinks, jewelry and art to face painting, and parasols- perfect for beating the heat.

Jazz in the Pass is coordinated by Pass Christian Main Street Foundation which has a board specifically created for the event.Jazz in the Pass began in May of 1999 to honor musicians from the area such as Captain John Handy, who was a famous saxophonist.

Originally celebrated on Mother’s Day, the event was halted by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 but was revived in 2012.
