Currently, a Moderate Risk (level 3/4) for excessive rainfall in the Atchafalaya Basin today.  Potentially, a Moderate Risk (level 3/4) for excessive rainfall on the Mississippi Coast Friday.

Possible/Expected Impacts:

  • Rainfall of 2 to 6 inches is expected for much of the area through Saturday afternoon.  Isolated higher amounts will be possible, especially along a line from Houma to New Orleans to Biloxi.
  • Locally heavy rainfall will likely lead to ponding of water in low lying areas and areas of poor drainage, and some flash flooding will be possible in the areas that receive the most rainfall.
  • Rises on area rivers can be expected and flood warnings may be necessary.
