Andrew Crusan, Senior at Pass Christian High School, was a recipient of the Lindsey Callahan Scholar-Athlete Award for 2019.  Crusan has lettered in Cross Country (10/11/12) and track and field (9/10/11/12); Finished 33rd among 168 runners in the Class 4A State Cross Country meet, helping Pass Christian to a 6th place in team standings (2018); Finished 76th among 158 runners as PCHS took 8th in the team standings (2017).

Sixteen seniors from across the state were selected for this prestigious award in the Class of 2019.  The honorees; one boy and one girl from each of the Mississippi High School Activities Association’s eight geographical districts, for their academic accomplishments.

Additionally, the student-athletes were praised for their participation in high school athletics and extracurricular activities. Each recipients was chosen by a committee made up of MHSAA partners and school administrators.

Academically, Crusan was named STAR Student for Pass High; Superintendent and Principal’s Honor Roll; ACT 30 Plus Club; Mu Alpha Theta (11/12).  Andrew will attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado and study Aerospace Engineering.

Dr. Robyn Killebrew; Principal of Pass Christian High School stated, “Andrew is the epitome of a well-rounded, enthusiastic, and intelligent student-athlete.  He is definitely someone to watch out for in the future.”

Each winner received a $1,500 college scholarship through the support of MHSAA partners like BankPlus, Mississippi Sports Medicine, C Spire and Polk’s Meat Products.

The 16 scholar-athletes were honored April 8th in Jackson at the 24th annual banquet.

These awards were created in honor of Mr. Lindy Callahan, a long-time athletic director and coach at Gulfport High School and a six-time Hall of Fame inductee.
