Playing in their first district match-up Tuesday night, the Pass Christian Pirates (3-7, 1-0) displayed sound baseball by earning a 10-0 six inning, mercy rule victory over the cross-bridge district rival Bay High Tigers.  The Pirates Junior Ace Pitcher Dustin Allison threw a one hit, 11 strikeout, complete game to shutout the Tigers at Pass Christian Baseball Field.

Intense moments began the game with the Pirates giving up an error and a walk to start the first inning, but the Tigers didn’t convert any score after Allison struck Bay’s Ace pitcher Garrett Langrell, then forced a ground out from Senior Cade Compretta.

The scoreboard finally lit up in the bottom of the second inning, as Pirates senior Trentin Niolet doubled in Pass Senior Marcos Chacon.

An inning later, a number of errors began for the Tigers, Pass Christian Junior Infielder Mason Knapp scored after stealing a base with Bay committing two mistakes.  After three innings, the score was 2-0 Pirates.

Knapp scored again after another error by the Tigers when the Pirates Sophomore Corben Williams layed down a bunt in the fifth inning.  This left the score 3-0 after 5 innings with Allison on cruise control on the mound for Pass Christian.

Finally, the Pirates busted open the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.  After the Tigers switched pitchers to start the inning, Pirates sophomore Bryce Dubuisson knocked in Junior Bryce Wilson after Wilson substituted for Pass Sophomore Jay Funderburk, who reached on an error.  Following this play, Knapp reached on another error, which brought in Pass Christian’s Dubuisson for another run.

On the third batter in the inning, the Pirates Allison singled and after an errant throw, Pass Christian Junior Logan Webb scored to increase the lead to 6-0 Pirates.

Pirates Sophomore Ian Trochesset singled in both Knapp and Allison to bring the score to 8-0 Pirates.

Just as he started the inning, Pass Christian’s Dubuisson ended the game doubling in Trochesset and Niolet for the 10-0 mercy rule after six innings.

Pass Christian Pitcher Allison earned his first win of the season, tossing the complete game, allowing no runs and helping himself at the plate with a hit, run scored and a run batted in.

The Pirates were led by Knapp with three hits and runs scored.  Trochesset reached base three times with a single and 2 walks.  Dubuisson finished with three runs-batted-in off 2 hits and a run scored.

As a team, Pass Christian had 10 hits, received 4 walks and only had two errors.  The Pirates next game is on the road Friday against Bay High at 7pm.
