Arts Alive! is in the 17th annual festival held in the heart of Old Town Bay St. Louis, MS, a town historically recognized as an arts community. The festival is produced by the nonprofit organization, The Arts, Hancock County. In its 17th year, the event has expanded into a 2-day weekend festival loaded with art, performance and hands-on activities for all ages.
Throughout all of Old Town Bay St Louis, festival goers will see some of the greatest local treasures – the artists – selling their beautifully crafted wares to the public. Artists will sell original creations such as tintype photographs, paintings in a variety of mediums, wooden creations, sculptures, pottery, ceramics, and the list goes on.
New for 2019, the festival will introduce a Makerspace featuring many art and maker demonstrations and hands-on activities. Over 12 local non-profit agencies are teaming up to offer art activities which incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), great for all ages and skill levels. The Makerspace will also feature live demonstrations by the coast’s top artisans working in a wide range of mediums and styles.
The Lazy Magnolia Pottery Village presents a wide range of ceramic arts and live demonstrations.
The BSLSHOOFLY.COM Community Stage on the Courthouse steps will feature local acoustic musicians, drumming, dancers, film festival and spoken word performances.
On the Mockingbird Cafe Stage, live musical performances will take place throughout.
