The death of a legend would be an understatement when referring to the recent passing into eternal life of Brother Joseph Donovan, SC. How one single man affected the life of thousands of families is beyond words. Even after his retirement of over 50 years, given numerous awards, inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame at St. Stanislaus College Prep, having a scholarship donated in his honor and a graduate award named for him, he was a man of values and character.
According to St. Stanislaus officials, Donovan died at 2:30am this morning on Saturday, December 8 at the Sacred Heart Residence in Mobile. Following weakness from a recent surgery, the former teacher, long-time prefect, and dean of discipline at St. Stanislaus from Brooklyn, NY moved on to his eternal resting.
Brother Joseph Donovan, SC was 82 years old and donated his body to science. St. Stanislaus administration is working on a Memorial Mass this week to honor his life and devotion to youth.
More details will be released later this week before the arrangements and a tribute will be posted soon in The Gazebo Gazette.
