Moorhead appears to be settling in as Head Coach. Play calling has been much better the past two games. He looks more comfortable. He’s more emotional with the players. We aren’t running Nick up the middle 20 times a game anymore.
Nick Fitzgerald has turned things around big time. He’s looking very comfortable at the quarterback position. His Coach, receivers, and company have all helped him with getting some positive plays. The La Tech game was probably the best game he’s had accuracy-wise.
The running game hasn’t slowed down a bit. Credit to the offensive line and running backs for getting the job done. Kylin Hill is fifth in SEC in yards per carry at 6.62 and Williams is right behind him at 4th.
This is the best Mississippi State defense we’ve had in decades. They lead the SEC in total scoring defense, passing defense, and total defense. They are also third in total sacks. There are playmakers all over the defense with plenty of depth. The Bulldogs are also ranked #2 nationally in scoring defense (12.3 points allowed per game).
Having said all of this, the Bulldogs travel to Tuscaloosa Saturday to face the Crimson Tide. The Tide are dominating their opponents all phases of the game. They blew out the #3 team in the nation on the road this past weekend. It’s going to be very hard to come out with a victory Saturday…almost like thinking of the impossible. MSU would have to play a perfect game and have some help from the Tide to somehow pull it off.
Demoran Prediction –
Mississippi State – 9
Alabama – 20
