Tuesday’s run-off marked the end of the election cycle for three candidates in Harrison County.  The first federal race was won by the interim United States Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith despite the recent displeasure of a few media comments.  The Senator beat former U.S. Agriculture Secretary and Congressman Mike Espy 54-46 with official results.

The next race was a lot closer for the State Chancery Court District 8, Place 3 where Youth Court Judge Margaret Alfonso beat incumbent Sandy Steckler by 545 votes in three counties with over 60,333 votes cast.  Judge Alfonso used to hold the chancery seat before Steckler succeeded her.

Finally, Mike Dickinson won 54-46 over Anna Ward Sukmann in the runoff for a spot on the Harrison County Court in Place 3.  Dickinson and Sukmann faced after grabbing the most votes in  a crowded non-partisan general election on November 6.
