GULFPORT SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR CHILD ABUSE

Thursday afternoon, September 13, 2018, Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson announced the arrest of 21 year old Buddy Randall Cox who resides at 18170 Campbell Circle Gulfport, MS., 39501 on one felony count of Child Abuse Causing Serious Bodily Harm.

According to Sheriff Peterson, American Medical Response personnel responded to 18170 Campbell Circle regarding a two-month old infant that was having difficulty breathing. The child was transported to Gulfport Memorial Hosptial where is was discovered the child was suffering from severe head trauma. Harrison County Sheriff’s Department Investigators responded to Gulfport Memorial Hospital to interview the parents. The father identified as Cox admitted that he struck the child several times out of anger because the child would not stop crying. Cox was taken into custody without incident. The infant was life flighted to USA Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama where the infant was listed in critical condition.

Buddy Randall Cox was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility and charged with one count of Felonious Child Abuse Causing Serious Bodily Harm. Cox is being held in lieu of a $100,000.00 dollar bond set by Justice Court Judge Melvin Ray.
