In a resounding 5-0 vote, the Pass Christian Board of Alderman approved the concept for developing a dog park in the Pass. On behalf of the Paws In The Pass Committee as well as all Pass canine residents, Wendy Allard proposed a resolution that allows a citizens committee and Main Street to seek grant funds for a dog park within the city and to research for a proper location for a dog park.

The grant would be through the MS Gulf Coast Community Foundation with the grant application period opening in the fall and grants being awarded in January.

The resolution also states that “throughout the county dog parks serve to provide communities with managed environments in which citizens take their dogs to exercise and enjoy their camaraderie as well as to interact and socialize with fellow canine enthusiasts”. Offering a dog park to Pass residents brings the city in line with other Mississippi Gulf Coast cities. The committee continues to seek citizen input and support via an online survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/NRNBG3N.

If you’re interested in making this come to fruition, please complete the survey and if you’d like to get involved, please contact Allard, Mary Bourdin, Patty DeMetz, Dr. Jennifer Hendricks or Gary Smith.
