Many reasons to celebrate, as the Biloxi Shuckers (40-28) clinched the Southern League’s South Division with a home win over the Mississippi Braves 5-0.  This win game them a decisive lead over the Mobile Bay Bears in the division, which is made before the All-Star game.

Minor League rules of the Major League Baseball (MLB) indicate that the top division earner from the first half and second half play against each other in the opening round.  The winners of the division title play against each other to make the top winner of Minor League Baseball.

Undefeated All-Star Pitcher Zack Brown pitched a dazzling one-hit shutout while helping advance runners at the plate as well.  “Hopefully there will more of us back after the break, so we can put more performance like tonight,” said Brown.  “Fastball and curves are my strong pitches, but you saw a few hit hard tonight.  The defense helped me tremendously.”

Winding down with a 2-run lead from the first, Relief pitcher turned first baseman Nick Ramirez hit a three-run bomb in the bottom of seventh to put more cushion on the score.  Brown shut the Braves down from there and the Friday Fireworks began.

The Biloxi Shuckers are the Double-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Shuckers play at MGM Park in Biloxi, Mississippi.
